Travel Info What is the cheapest, shortest, and best way to get from Fair Oaks Mall in Fairfax to Dulles? Are there busses, shuttles, etc. Thanks. Travel Tips Cheapest and shortest are two different things. Taking public transport, alas, it is bound to take you two and a half hours to negotiate the distance. You have two main choices . You can use a combination of 3 busses. 605 takes you from the Sears Entrance at Fair Oaks to Reston Town Center. 950 takes you from Reston Town Center to Herndon Monroe Park and ride 5A bus takes you from the park and ride to Dulles Airport. This trip, if you remember to ask for transfers, costs $3.50 or less There is a significant wait in Herndon most of the time. Another option is to go from Fair Oaks to Rston Town Center 605, then take the 505 to West Falls Church, then pick up the Washington Flyer bus, from West Falls church. This is almost as long, and costs extra money (for the Washington Flyer Bus.) You could take supershuttle, a shared ride service, that runs about $25 a trip from most Northern Virginia locations. They are much quicker, and less complex than public transport, they are definitely faster to get there, by a lot. But of course a lot more expensive. Hope this helps.
