Travel Info I am moving to D.C. soon, could anyone tell me the best areas to live in? Also, What is the general vibe? Travel Tips It depends on what your price range is and whether you need a car or not. Some great "young proffesional" areas are: Adams Morgan (DC Neighborhood Neighborhood) Clarendon (Arlington, VA Neighborhood) Ballston (Arlington, VA Neighborhood) Capital Hill (DC Neighborhood Neighborhood) Others DC is an amazing vibrant town. I absolutely love it there. We have friends living in Chevy Chase, MD and Gaitherburg, MD and they love it. DC has become a young persons town. It's not just politics anymore (though that is a large part). Depending on your price range, some suggestions are: Adams Morgan Georgetown (it's really expensive, though) Dupont Circle Tacoma Park Friendship Heights Tenleytown Cleveland Park Ballston, Clarendon, Court House, Fairlington, Shirlington (all parts of Arlington, VA). Silver Spring, MD The absolute best place to live is Dupont Circle. They have the best stores, food, clubs and bars around. Its always something to do. You can also walk around the park and at the same time feel safe. Fairfax County. Right out side of DC in Virginia. It has an amazing school district. The people are very unique. There are all different races and cultures. Its a safe and modern county. I lived in Springfield, Va for 6 years and loved every bit of it. There is always something to do and you are right there @ DC for great night life and entertainment! Capitol Hill Adams Morgan Friendship Heights Cities in Montgomery County MD like Silver Spring and Bethesda. There's always plenty to do in the city. We have lots of sports events, DC is a city with many Universities. If you're looking for nightlife DC is the city for you...Adams Morgan is great area with many bars and clubs. Gallery Place (Chinatown) has new restaurants, movie theater, a bowling alley that is 21 and older after 9pm. There are some decent clubs that are downtown. Be advised that DC is a very expensive city and to live here street smarts is a must! www.neighborhoodscout.com offers a neighborhood search engine that tells you about crime rates, schools, and home prices. Hope this helps! If you want to stay in DC, you will be paying much higher in rent and taxes. Try to find a place in VA (some parts of Alexandria, McLean, Vienna and Fairfax, Rosslyn, Crystal City) or Maryland (Bethesda, Potomac or if you want to go further away, Germantown) Housing and parking can really get pricey in DC. If you want to look at places in VA, let me know. I am a Realtor in Northern VA and can help |
