What is the fastest route from Washington, dc. to lewes beach, DE? |
Travel Info I am traveling from DC to the cape may-lewes ferry for a nice ride back to Jersey. We will be traveling by motorcycle. thanks for the help.... Travel Tips One gets to MD 404 from US 50, not US 301. If you want to avoid the Bay Bridge - try I-95 North to DE 1 South to Lewes. To avoid the toll in DE - take Exit 109, MD 279 South to US 40 East to DE 1 South to Lewes. Others out going EAST on CONSTITUTION AVE NW / US-50 toward 15TH ST NW. 0.6 miles Map 2: Turn RIGHT onto 9TH ST NW. 0.6 miles Map 3: Merge onto I-395 N via the ramp on the LEFT toward I-295. 0.2 miles Map 4: Keep LEFT to take I-295 S. 1.1 miles Map 5: Keep LEFT to take SOUTHEAST FWY toward PENNSYLVANIA AVENUE. 0.7 miles Map 6: Merge onto PENNSYLVANIA AVE SE. 0.6 miles Map 7: Turn SLIGHT LEFT onto FAIRLAWN AVE SE. <0.1 miles Map 8: Merge onto DC-295 N toward DC-295 N (Crossing into MARYLAND). 3.7 miles Map 9: Merge onto US-50 E toward ANNAPOLIS / RICHMOND (Portions toll). 45.4 miles Map 10: Merge onto OCEAN GTWY / US-50 E toward OCEAN CITY. 6.9 miles Map 11: Turn LEFT onto MD-404 / QUEEN ANNE HWY / WYE MILLS-QUEEN ANNE RD. Continue to follow MD-404 E (Crossing into DELAWARE). 29.6 miles Map 12: Stay STRAIGHT to go onto SEASHORE HWY / DE-404 BR. 1.4 miles Map 13: Turn LEFT onto MARKET ST / DE-404 BR. 0.4 miles Map 14: Turn RIGHT onto S MAIN ST / US-13 BR / DE-404 BR. 1.4 miles Map 15: Turn SLIGHT LEFT onto SEASHORE HWY / DE-404. Continue to follow DE-404 E. Pass through 1 roundabout. 24.3 miles Map 16: DE-404 E becomes US-9 BR E / SAVANNAH RD. 2.5 miles Map 17: Turn LEFT onto 3RD ST. <0.1 miles Map 18: End at Lewes, DE US Map Total Est. Time: 2 hours, 31 minutes Total Est. Distance: 120.33 miles mapquest Of course you could use yahoo maps or mapquest as posted but then you need to know your starting location a bit more precisely than just DC. Anyway, as the second poster Bob said go 50 East from DC. New York Ave is/becomes 50 as you go east. Take that across the bay bridge and keep going till you hit 404. That's a left onto 404 but there is no option to turn right. 404 goes all the way to Lewes. You'll see signs to the ferry. It's quite simple. I guess you could take 95 like someone earlier said but that's a long way out of the way. I wouldn't seriously consider it. And if you did that why would you come back to the ferry instead of just going into NJ. Enjoy your trip. BTW the bay bridge can be a bit of a hassle with beach traffic so try to avoid Friday afternoon and evenings during the summer. |
