Route 15 beating DC traffic? |
Travel Info hey all im comin from nyc goin down to richmond i will hit dc traffic at 4pm thursday and i know dc traffic willl be corked.. i was wondering if i went around the dc traffic and took route 15 to the route 522 right into Richmond which is my destination Travel Tips Well, US 15 to US 522 to US 33 or US 250 as US 522 does not enter Richmond. US 15 is a 2 lane road with a 55 MPH limit along most of the route. There are some 4 lane sections - but the total is 10 miles (once you leave US 29). I took US 15 to US 522 to US 33 into Richmond on a Friday afternoon and I believe I beat the DC traffic - by about 10-15 minutes. Others I live right of of 15 at Leesburg. To beat the traffic, we take 15 into like Culpeper or somewhere around there and then jump onto 17. Now 17 doesn't take us right into Richmond but it drops you off onto 95s WAY passed all the hectic traffic on 95 passed the places where there's gonna be problems from rush hour. 17 is also 2 lanes each way and it moves. |
