Visiting seattle?

Travel Info
I will be staying fairly close to the white house in washington DC and would like to visit Seattle while I am there? IS this possible? I can find very little info about visiting seattle. IS it far? How would I get there? How much would it cost? Thanks

Travel Tips
Seattle is more than 2500 miles from Washington DC (4000km) so to fly there would be 5 hours at least. So you could do it but they are on opposite ends of the country. Unfortunately - because Seattle is one of the most gorgeous places I've been to in the entire world.

are you messing around or something Seattle is in Washington state! Are you in like 2ND grade. Seattle is like half-way across the county! to get there it would cost like 100s of dollars to get there
Washington, D.C. is on the East Coast, and Seattle, Washington (the state) is on the West Coast. Look at a map of the United States, and locate Washington, D.C., on the East Coast below Maryland.
Now look at Northwest United States in the upper left corner, and there is Washington state, bordering Canada. It is quite a distance, about 2,500 miles. You can take an airplane from BWI (Baltimore Washington International) to Seattle, Washington and arrive at SeaTac (Seattle Tacoma) airport. This is the fastest way. If you are really committed to doing this, plan your flight well in advance, as you can get rates as low as $99 each way, if you book over three weeks in advance, and give the dates. There is always a layover of a few hours, both ways, and it usually isn't long. In this warm weather, you won't get snowed in and miss a flight.
You are planning a bi=coastal trip, and it may take some doing. Although, if you prefer a rainforest and the Pacific Ocean, to the large rotund political buildings in Washington, D.C., do it. Take a few days to tour the nations Capitol, it takes only a few days to do the tours, visit the Lincoln Memorial, and if you don't want to rest, then fly on to the West Coast. It will be an experience. Hold onto your luggage. You will need a hotel in Washington state, too.

You might want to check out our podcast, Washington TravelCast, weekly walking tours of Washington, DC. On April first, in our "Washington, BC" episode, we covered both Seattle and Vancouver (BC). We include directions from the airport in both cases.

We don't include directions to Dulles, National or BWI from your hotel near the white house, though.
