What does memorial day mean? |
Travel Info What does memorial day mean? Travel Tips To remember that our freedom was not FREE, many people have died in the service of our country and so we we remember those who died in the service of our Country no matter where the battle was, but some people remember their family and friends who also have died, a day of remembrance for all who have died. Remember there have been civilians who also died in the service of our country.Veterans Day is remembering ALL VETERANS both living and those who died. Others A day to remember the fallen soldiers.... originally it was for the service men and women who died for their country & those we lost. Now it is more about BBQs and camping. we are commemorating the fallen solider, like memorandum remember, or memory all from the same root Well, the original meaning is lost... along with the Color Guards at the cemetaries and the patriotic parades. I guess that, since Americans don't know history... their own or anyone elses... the only day to remember the fallen soldier is on Veteren's day, and I'll bet that 95 percent of the people reading this don't know that day is November 11th. Now it's about the Indy 500, backyard barbecues and the first official excuse to get drunk on a national holiday when you don't have to go to work the next day. Of course, the 4th of July is the day to buy your new car and Labor Day is the day you buy new furniture... Memorial Day is the day set aside to honor the fallen soldiers who fought to keep America free, whether or not it was on United States soil or elsewhere. Memorial Day- U.S. holiday: a public holiday to commemorate soldiers who died in war, now observed on the last Monday in May but originally celebrated on May 30 In regular people's terms, it's pretty much a day reserved to remember the dead folk. |
