Some places to shop in Washington DC?

Travel Info
I'm going to Washington on Sunday (May 28,07) and Memorial Day's coming up I think and they say that in the US Memorial Day has loads of big sales. I'm staying at the Grand Hyatt for the spelling bee so I want to know where you can go to shop around there preferably near to my hotel... Help please?

Travel Tips
If you are at the Grand Hyatt, the big downtown Macy's (formerly Hecht's) is right around the corner. There is also the Filene's Basement store and an H&M nearby at Metro Center and there's a Benneton (sp?) and Ann Taylor and other shops up at Gallery Place (lots of restaurants and bars). Ask at the concierge desk at your hotel. Also, Union Station (the train station) has a mall with lots of stores (metro accessible). Or you could hop on the metro and go down to Pentagon City mall, which also has shops and restaurants next-door at Pentagon Centre and Pentagon Square. Or you could cab over to Georgetown and go shopping on M street and Wisconsin Avenue. Lots of shops and stuff over there.
Others
Just step out on the street. DC is a political town but it is also geared toward the tourism market. There tours that you can take hop on get off, so you will see many places to shop plus get a history lesson.
