Where I can find a left luggage facility in Washington D.C.?

Travel Info
I am staying in the city for one day and want to walk around. Is there any place I can leave my luggage for the day? Please give me the right address and if possible the cost of it.

Travel Tips
There is a left luggage facility in Union Station, which is fairly new - there was not one for a long time after 9/11.

It's on the level where people wait for the trains - about a third of the way down. There is an overhead sign pointing to it, but it can be easy to miss. I'm not sure exactly of the cost, but I seem to remember around $15 for the better part of a day.

Union station is good, because it is right near the mall and the Capitol, and there is a metro station there that you can take if you want to save your energy for all the walking you will do.

I will put the link to Union Station in the links, and you will be able to get the address and directions there. But really , you want to get on Metro, the subway, and take it to the Union Station stop. When you get off, go toward 1st street and the trains. This is a right off the train if you are coming from Metro Center. Take the escalator up, then take the large escalator which is right in front of you after you go through the turnstiles. This will put you on the level with the trains - go through the doors, past the post office, and hang a left, past Sbarro. You are in a big room where everyone waits for trains, and you can look for the left luggage facility, on the left about a third of the way down.

There are not, repeat NOT, left luggage facilities in any of DC's airports. Not since 9/11 in any case. You can check in your luggage four hours before your flight, but that is it, at the airports. Other Travel Tips
Are you arriving by plane? If yes, the airport will have some luggage storage, but you can only leave it for a day.

Same if by train.

Where are you staying....any hotel that you are staying at will let you store your luggage with the concierge before your check-in time.

good luck
There are no facilities at any of the airports (which are all outside of downtown DC anyway). There's a facility at Union Station in DC - the main train station, which is also connected to the Metro. I left a suitcase (fairly small) and a backpack for a day and I believe it cost me $9 - this was a couple months ago.

Also most hotels will let you store luggage there - I'm not sure if you have to be a guest or not though, probably it depends on the hotel. (I've only done this at hotels I've actually stayed at and have left luggage when I arrive early and need a place to keep it until I'm ready to check in, or if I check out early and need a place to keep it until I'm leaving to go home). If you're staying at a hotel you might as well leave it at the hotel you're staying at. At any rate the hotels generally don't charge for this although it would be nice to tip them $1 or 2.
I travel very frequently
You stated you are staying in DC so why not leave it where you are staying. Most hotels will hold it for you for up to several hours.
