What unique, D.C.-area-only packaged food is good to give as a nice gift? And where can I get it? |
Travel Info Preferably it should say D.C./Virginia/Maryland somewhere on the label. And under $30. Travel Tips How about a gift basket from Blue Crab Bay? http://www.bluecrabbay.com/products.asp?... Others try making a herbal tea basket with asorted teas , Sorry to inform you, but there isn't much that is distinctly DC. The whole city is an okra of people from other parts of the nation. There aren't many DC natives. Your best bet would be to choose the Maryland route. Maryland is knows worldwide (no exagerration) for its seafood. Blue crab and crabcakes especially. There is the Wye River Seafood Company that makes soups, etc., that will be labeled as made in Maryland. The best you may be able to do for DC is to visit a brewery - Capital City, something like that. You could buy bottles of beer, or pint glasses. Virginia has a wide assortment of wines, that you can easily pick up in a Virginia ABC store. Some of the better wineries are Barboursville, Horton, Prince Michel, Loudoun Valley, and Pearmund. (The latter is my favorite.) Virginia is also known for ham and peanuts. Clinton Cigars, White House gift shop. Assorted flavors available. |
