Free things for family with teenagers to do in Washington D.C?

Travel Info
I am currently in D.C. with my mother and there are 3 teenagers in total. Today we went to the Natural History Museum and the Air and Space Museum. Honestly, neither was very exciting. I heard the Spy Museum would be interesting. How much is it to go there? What are some free places we can go that might interest us?
Thanks.

i've been to dc. & the spy museum is pretty interesting. also, you should just go sight seeing, dc is a very beautiful place. and if you're gonna go eat you should go eat at benihana. it's a really cool restaraunt.

the DC Zoo is free. I think it's near Georgetown.
After 8:00 at night, it costs nothing to go up inside the Washington Monument.
Spy Museum is about $15 a person--not cheap. If the weather's ok tomorrow, walk through the monuments (area known as the national mall) or get in line for the white house or congress bldg tours. If nothing else, you guys can always laugh at the crazy tourists. (My fav part) And there's plenty of restraunts in the area.

The Bureau of Printing and Engraving is cool. Usually they give tours of how $$ is made.

The zoo is always fun, too--I love the pandas.

If you need to get inside & cool off, there's some fun touristy shops & good food at Union Station. (has it's own metro shop)

In the evening, take the metro/taxi down to Tyson's Corner Mall--it's awesome!

Hmm. Check out the National Museum of the American Indian. Be sure to start with the movie - it's a multimedia presentation that is pretty cool.

I'd never recommend the Natural History Museum for teens - it's really geared toward younger kids, and is undergoing reconstruction. I also think the zoo, unless you have a kid that is focused on animals, is geared toward kids who are younger.

The East Building of the National Gallery of Art is neat if you have an art - interested kids (knowing your kids interests would help here).

Georgetown is kind of cool - a great place to walk around. You can get there on the connector bus from Union Station or along K street for just a dollar each. Lots of shopping, very trendy, collegiate, thanks to the university there.

Go to a baseball game. You can get seats for the Nationals games on weekdays for as little as $5 each. You're in the outfield bleacher seats, but RFK Stadium has good sightlines everywhere! For a bit more you can get bleacher seats behind home plate.

Go walk around one of the trendy neighborhoods. Go to Adams Morgan or to U street. Have a cheap dinner across from the U Street Cardozo metro at Ben's Chili bowl. Congressmen eat there, but it's really a neighborhood restaurant with chili and dogs and the like.

Hope that helps - if not post back here again!

Someone recommended Tysons - it's the largest mall in the area. Pentagon City's mall is directly accessible via metro, and you can get to Georgetown Park and Georgetown on the Connector Bus. Tyson's is a bit difficult to get to, but if you want to take the Orange line to Dunn Loring, then get off and take the 2T bus to Tyson's Corner.
