Work in dc metro area, live in Alexandria, VA? how long is the commute? |
Travel Info i will be working in between fairfax and dc metro region, rent in Alexandria seems to be cheaper, is the commute long in the morning driving? how is the the neighborhood? Thanks in advance to everyone answering! Travel Tips Driving or public transport...short commute either way! Driving CAN take longer than the train! Others the area is very nice. however i regret to inform you that the rush hour traffic is one of the worse in the country. if it will take you 30 to 40 minutes add another 30- to 40- minutes of sitting in traffic! i don't know about commute, but the area is more inexpensive than other areas in DC. good luck on the move! the DC metro area is a great place to live. friendly people, free museums, always something to do, semi-mild winters even with the snow. just the summer humidity is blaaaaaaah. Great area to live in. The distance is short for the commute but the traffic is horrendous. Depending on which part of Alexandria you are in and where you are going in D.C. it shouldn't be that bad as the distance is very short. The 2 actually are right next to each other. There is a lot to do in the area and you will like it. It all depends all where you are working. Can you take public transportation, near the highway. A magical guess will say 30 minutes, but you are going to have to figure it out for yourself. I have never driven, but I would still suggest the local transit system. It would be easier, and more convenient than driving, and possibly cheaper. My father used to travel between Alexandria, and Bethesda MD, and found that to be true. I have always used the transit system while living there, and never had a problem with it. |
