Commuting from Washington DC (georgetown) to Baltimore w/o a car for summer (2 mon), suggestions? |
Travel Info I currently taking metro, marc, and bus to get to my work and baltimore regions from DC and it takes me about 2.5 hrs. Are there any faster alternative ways that's relatively cheap? I might need a car to get to parts of Baltimore that the bus won't take you and was thinking of either buying a very cheap car, or trying out the flexcar thing. Any with any experience please let me know, thanks! Travel Tips Sounds like you're the same poster who allowed the question on commuting to Baltimore from Georgetown to go to the voters. How about finding another job which does not require commuting to Baltimore - there are many think tanks on K St. where one can take Metrobus from Georgetown. If you're wealthy enough, try to find a job which starts in September. Flexcar will cost you a lot of money - try $100 a day given your distance. Others I used to live in DC, and when I first saw your "headline," my thought was Metrobus to Dupont Circle Metro to Union Station to MARC. I don't know why it takes you 2.5 hours... it shouldn't take anywhere near that long. A car will still take at least 1 1/2 hour durring rush hour,45 mins-1 hour during off peak times. but it's better than what you're doing. (way to avoid some traffic may be 50-3-I-97) If you dont have a car I dont see a way around your route...sorry, it's just a long commute. How about a carpool? http://www.mwcog.org/commuter/ubb/forum3... (I hope this ad wasn't posted by you) If you can walk to Foggy Bottom take the Orange line into Maryland. It ends at New Carrollton. There is a Marc train to Baltimore there. No way it takes 2.5 unless you are talking about round trip. Go to www.wmata.com. Find the trip planner and see what it suggests. It does do routings into Bmore. |
