What other atrractions in washing dc near the holocaust museum are worth going to? |
Travel Info We are trying to plan a day trip and we want to go to the holocaust museum and we are trying to figure out where else we could go to that is relatively close, there may be as many as ten of us. Transportation? Eating? Travel Tips I would recommend going to any of the Smithsonian museums on the Mall, they're all free entry. Depending what you like will determine which ones to go to, my two favorites are Air and Space and the Natural History museum. The Capitol is right there, Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, White House, WWII Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, you're basically in the mecca of tourist attractions right there. In terms of transporation, all the sights are within walking distance, but there isn't any super good eating near there. I'd recommend taking the subway to Chinatown to find a good restaurant. Get on at the Smithsonian station (blue line), which is right on The Mall toward Franconia/Springfield, get off at Metro Center and switch to Red Line (Don't leave the station) going toward Glenmont and take it one stop to Gallery Pl./Chinatown. There are a ton of good restaurants around there. Hope that helps! Others Smithsonian! everthing is close to the Holocaust museum. I really like the guy outside that sell the Kosher Hot Dogs from a cart. talk about a good gig, selling Kosher dogs to people leaving a Jewish museum, Oy vay! classic! Almost everthing worth seeing is within a 10 block radius. Transportation is easy - take Metro, then walk everywhere. It's all right there. Eating is hard, at least for lunch. There just aren't alot of good places in that area other than in the museums, and they can get crowded. However, there's a decent food court in the Postal Museum building on 12th St on the other side of the Mall (the big tower). |
