Where is best parking garage near mall in Washington DC? |
Travel Info family with 4 kids want to sightsee monuments Travel Tips The mall covers numerous blocks, however there is a parking garage in walking distance 2 blocks south of the mall (7th and Independence) at 7th and Virginia Avenues SW - all day parking may run you around 14.00 ? - and of course you can catch the metro - there are several stops that service the mall (L'Enfant Plaza, Smithsonian, Archives.......) Others There are none. You park along the streets or near the monuments Your best bet is to park at a Metro stop, many have garages, and Metro in. Depends on whether it is a weekday or weekend as well as which direction you are coming from into DC. If I were in your shoes, I believe: (i) street parking in Arlington VA at 12 hour meters that accepts only 25 cent quarters is your most economical and cost effective choice. Look for green color meters around Pentagon City or Crystal City and note the blue colored meters are only 2 hours. After you park and put in quarters to cover parking until 6PM, it's best to ask for directions to the Metrorail stop that is normally within walking distance or better yet, find the Metro stop first and then look for a green colored parking meter. (ii) Note that on Sundays or after 6 PM both parking meters in Arlington VA and downtown DC are free and DON'T TRY to outsmart Meter Maids bec there are so many and they do an efficient job bringing in revenue...plus if you didn't know, you can get more than one parking ticket at same meter, and they are costly and expensive. (iii) There is also a parking garage at Fashion Centre of Pentagon City Mall that has nice eatery on the basement level and many tour buses do pull in and park along the streets bec price is reasonable. If you are a Costco Wholesale member, there is a store at PENTAGON CENTRE right across from the mall, which allows 2 hours free parking but YOUR PARKING STUB must be validated by Costco.
