I am going to Washington DC is there anything cool I should visit? |
Travel Info I am going to DC and have been to most of the muesams. Is there any local people that know of anything cool I could do with my family. Travel Tips Be sure to check out the FDR memorial - it's far and away our family's favorite, with WWII running a close second. The zoo is a great destination, as is Mount Vernon. Old Town Alexandria has a lot of character and activity, as does the Georgetown waterfront. Others You can go to Mount Vernon Plantation the home of our first President George Washington. Its not even that far maybe 15 or 16 miles south of DC in Alexandria, VA. You can also try to go to the new air and space museum right next to Dulles Airport (would be ideal if thats the airport you arrived from). Have fun! Don't miss Georgetown, in Sunday afternoon! You could take a walk aroound the lake and look at all the monuments. You can go to the Air and Space Museum. Also you can go to the top of the Washington Monument. Mr. Man's idea of going to the new Air and Space Museum is a great idea if you like planes. I highely suggest going there. I would suggest going to the spy museum, I went there last summer and it was very interesting and had a lot to do for the whole family. everything Renting paddle boats in the tidal basin or kayaks from Thompson Boat House between G-town and the Kennedy Center are fun! Also, if your trip is soon the Folklife Festival will be going on for the next couple weeks. |
