DC.....great show with a beautiful backdrop with the Washington Monument, Capitol building, etc. The whole show is simulcast with music you can hear on several radio stations.
Best places to find a spot to watch...the Virginia side of the Potomac near the Key Bridge, the hilly common areas to the east of the Kennedy Center at the south end of the Rock Creek Parkway, or at Meridian Hill Park on 16th Street north
of downtown...it's the highest point in DC. The best bet if driving is Meridian Hill Park, you can usually find a spot in a neighborhood bordering the park...try for the southwest quadrant of the park in terms of watching the fireworks and nearby parking.

DC--Just take the metro down to the mall, or another vantage point.
