What's that Castle in Maryland/DC? |
Travel Info I recently flew into Reagan National Airport in DC and not long before descent noticed some sort of a castle like building in the Maryland/DC area. Does anyone know what it is? Travel Tips That's the Mormon Temple. http://www.lds.org/temples/main/photo/0,... Others You may be talking about The National Cathedral in Washington DC. The cathedral is usually where each inaugurated presidents first church service is held. You can see the building when traveling south on rt. 95. http://www.cathedral.org/cathedral/... If your flight came in from the North or West, I'm guessing that you saw some Georgetown University buildings as the plane followed the Potomac right into National - some of those buildings are from the 19th Century and look like castles. If you came in from the East - you might have seen Ft. McHenry in Baltimore. I'm guessing you saw either the National Cathedral, some of the buildings of Georgetown University, or the Mormon Temple in Kensington. You most likely are talking about the Smithsonain Castle on the National Mall. It would have been on your left if you were flying into DCA from the north (or on your right is you arrived from the south). |
