Going on a trip to DC in december, what should I pack? |
Travel Info Okay. I'm from southern Louisiana and it doens't get very cold down here. My friends and I are going on a trip to DC in December and we were wondering what we should pack. What's the weather like in December? If you have any packing suggestions, let me know. Thanks! Travel Tips I disagree with the down coat. You will be fine if you bring long pants (jeans are warm) and layers - a turtleneck and a sweater and maybe a fleece vest and a coat - that way you can adapt to what is a wide range of temps (we've had temps below freezing in December, but we've also had 70 degree days.) Snow and freezing temps are possible but unlikely. It will be important to have a hat and gloves - you lose something like 70% of your body heat from your head, so a hat can make a difference for your whole body. If you wanna do any walking you will need a good feather down/insulated coat, gloves and definitely a scarf. That wind chill can be harsh! It won't be too cold here by then, maybe in the 40's. Bring long pants and long sleeved shirts and a coat if you have one. Gloves might be a good idea but you might not need them. I don't think you'll see snow but there is a chance that you might. And people in DC dress like everyone else does. It's not all formal with suits and stuff every day unless you work in that kind of atmosphere. Have fun when you come and see the touristy stuff because it's impressive and cool. Lived 30 miles from DC for over 20 years I was in DC in October last year and was surprised how cold it was. There is a lot of wind... Take your woolens! |
