Ever been to Washington D. C.?

Went on July 4th weekend 1996 ,watched fireworks from beneath Washington Monument. It was so crowded and distracting couldn't enjoy it. did visit theSmithsonian, you really need a whole day to see what it has to offer. Visited museum of Natural History,interesting. My advice though is not to go on a holiday ,too crowded. The best time we had was when we left and spent a cupla days at Virginia City. It was fun and relaxing.

yeah i went last year for a poetry convention. Stayed in the Hilton Hotel for 5 days! took a trolly one day all around the city for sight seeing. Got out and walked more than i have walked in my entire life! went to the white house, washington monument, wwII, saw all the houses where the embacies are. I spent 8 hours touring in really humid weather in jeans and flipflops. it was a blast! i would love to do it again. i love to travel.

I went there for a band trip 9th grade it was horrible the band director kept disappearing and my friends didnt talk to me it made me very sad I said that I'd never go back there
exactly i went on a school trip and we went to see some awesome things
I visited DC yearly between 1992 and 1996 on business, but always arranged to stay over the weekend for sightseeing.

In that time, I saw something different each time I went. DC is a fabulous city. I would stay at the Keybridge Marriott in Arlington and walk to the subway terminal for a quick ride into DC or walk across the bridge of the Potomac river into Georgetown.

The subways in DC only run till 11 or 12. I found them to be very clean and safe. To get around the Smithsonian, or find unique places, I asked one of the many homeless people who sat in the park. They are a wealth of wisdom, and a small tip of a dollar always brings a smile.

You can easily walk around the capital grounds from the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, and to see the Vietnam Memorial Wall. You'll need to take the subway to get to the Holocaust Museum.

The Smithsonian's natural history museum is the best in the world, and a must see. The other part that was one of my favorites was the museum that housed early inventions.
They have a planetarium for skywatchers.

DC is a must see trip, if only once in a lifetime!
It is nice to tour at times of the year when it isn't such a tourist attraction. The Smithsonian is arguably the best place to visit.
