What will traffic be like July 3, 2007 on I-95 from central VA to DC? |
Travel Info I plan to hit the national zoo on Tuesday July 3, but just realized what a crazy idea that might be. I haven't lived here long and would like to know if anyone has any knowledgable traffic opinions. I would like to head from central VA to DC in the morning and then back home at around 2 or 3pm. Is this going to be a horrible traffic time? Thanks for your opinions. Travel Tips Why not take Metro - drive to Vienna (If using US 29 or I-66 from central VA) or Franconia/Springfield (if using I-95 like your question stated) - take the Blue Line to MetroCenter - transfer to the Red Line heading towards Shady Grove and exit at the Zoo station. Take Metro back to Franconia-Springfield and head home. You're going to need a SmartTrip (or credit) card because parking isn't free on 7/3. Others Leaving the District at 3pm on the 3rd is likely to be HORRIBLE. I love the zoo and I wouldn't want to discourage you from going, but bring good music and a lot of patience and gasoline on the assumption that the traffic will be stop-and-go for miles. If it works for you geographically, park at the end of a Metro line and ride in/out...you'll still get stuck in traffic when you leave but you'll have bypassed (and not contributed to) part of the jam. former Central VA resident all too familiar with that drive Not to be a smartass, but do you really want to know? It will be bad my magic 8 ball I would avoid it. How about the Reston Zoo? |
