Best Washington D.C. July 4th firework spot??

Travel Info
that isn't on the lawn downtown or packed on the GW parkway. Anybody have some tips for maybe another, lesser known area to see fireworks? an insider secret, perhaps. ... my family lives around here and every year we do cattle-herding on the parkway and don't really want to anymore.. anyplace perhaps at a distance with a good view of the capital and monuments?

Travel Tips
Rosslyn. Iwo Jima and the next door Netherlands Carillon (the Carillon has lots of space and fewer people) if you are on the Virginia Side (as I am guessing you are.) Beautiful view of the monuments over the River, and head on view of the fireworks, if at a distance.

I will admit for the last few years we've skipped the national fireworks completely to go to the old town splendor of the firelworks in Vienna. Fairfax has a great show, too.

My father's skyrise apartment. : )
