I am a registered tour guide and I know a lot of people who took tourism in general and people are are travel agents. You are looking at around $30,000 a year as a travel agent-or less. (unless you get on with a the province) A lot of it is networking and that can be very touch when you first start out. Alot of people lost their jobs with bigger travel groups like CAA after 9/11. They haven't been hired back yet. I love Winnipeg, but the market for a tourism related job is quite low. If you are looking for a good area for career, try Vancouver. With the Olympics coming up, it is a good time. Other areas of the country like Alberta are better for the economy of tourism. (but also a higher living expense) Good luck! As for the cost of living it really depends on what area of the city you're looking to live in. Stay away from the west and north end as you don't want to live there but it is cheap there. I don't know but my mom's from Canada. |
