Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg?

I'll be in Winnipeg at the end of year for school. I'm looking around for places to rent online. Can anyone tell me how Sherbrook Street (upper) is? Just want to find out about the general vicinity, what is it like? Clean? Run down?

Couple of different places available on it, and its about 5 minutes from the university so the location is convenient.

Any help from someone familiar with the area would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I'm with the others...Sherbroo isn't so great. A friend lived down near the Sherbrook Inn. Her beat up car got targetted no less than six times. Not great for her insurance.

Try Osbourne Village or the Wolsley area which are nearby, but safer. I used to live in Wolsley and it was about a 15 min walk to the U of W. It was very pretty and Vimy Ridge Park was right there. Close to Portage Ave where most connecting buses go to as well.

In both areas you will find older homes which are made into apartments. Character apartments; I loved them. Source(s): Lived in the areas

Sherbrook isn't the best area.

I wouldn't go any farther north of there.
If you gotta be downtown, keep it as close to the

Sherbrook Street is not a place to live if you're new to the city. There is a lot of gang activity in that area. It is an older part of town and it is kind of rundown. Being close to the school is convenient but it doesn't sound like you're close enough. Look all over the city for places maybe close to transit routes most bus routes go right downtown and go past the school. It is not the safest area in town broaden your search and find a great place! Try looking in the Osborn Village. It's close to downtown, hip & not quite as scary as Sherbrook area.
